Metals price risk management across Europe and the UK

From our London office we serve industrial businesses across the UK and continental Europe, where metals pricing is anchored to the London Metal Exchange and price risk oversight is shaped by European reporting regulation.

Metals pricing and market structure

Europe is the home of metals derivatives: the London Metal Exchange sets the global reference prices for aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, nickel and tin, and most European supply contracts price directly off LME official or monthly average settlement prices. That makes LME date structure, contango and backwardation a live factor in almost every European client's margin, and it is where our hedging and forward market management work is concentrated.

European operations also carry reporting obligations that touch price risk directly. Transactions in derivatives fall under EMIR reporting, firms inside the financial perimeter work within MiFID II, and corporate treasury teams increasingly need explainable, audit-ready reporting of their hedge positions. We design price risk programmes whose documentation and reporting stand up to that scrutiny from day one.
